Central & Eastern European Energy Efficiency Forum
Four days in the Carpathian mountains
The Central and Eastern European Energy Efficiency Forum moved to Poiana Brașov, Romania, for its 2021 edition — held from Tuesday to Friday, 21–24 September. Postponed from 2020 because of the pandemic, it was organised together with the local Pro-nZEB Cluster and brought the energy efficiency community back together for high-level plenaries, panel sessions and practical workshops on the energy efficiency of buildings.
Programme structure
The C4E Forum 2021 agenda offered an engaging blend of practical parallel sessions, workshops and high-level plenaries, with a slot for DIY activities and plenty of social and networking time around it all. Two panel-session wrap-ups gave a voice to those who couldn’t join a particular session, and a “controversial ideas” session looked at familiar topics from a slightly different perspective.

Programme highlights
Plenaries
High-level opening and closing plenaries gave an overall picture and context from both the EU and the CEE perspective, with speakers from international institutions and the region.
Panel sessions
Topical sessions built from participants’ own presentations — up to five ran in parallel, each 90 minutes, with the second half given over to audience discussion and break-out group work.
Workshops
Sixty-minute sessions hosted by sponsors and contributing partners, focused on practical issues in and for the countries of the region.
DIY sessions
A two-hour slot on the Thursday afternoon for relaxed, hands-on activities that brought all participants together.
Controversial ideas session
A session designed to look at familiar topics from a slightly different angle — having controversial thoughts? Share them.
Closing talk
An inspirational closing talk by Mihai Toader-Pasti: “Our planet — the responsibility we all share. A better world is created by better citizens.”

Venue 2021
The C4E Forum 2021 took place at the Ana Hotels resort in Poiana Brașov — a mountain resort in the Southern Carpathians, just above the historic city of Brașov in central Romania. Surrounded by forest, it offered a relaxed setting for the sessions and the informal networking the Forum is known for.
